Syracuse, NY – On July 29, MPD Partners officially launched a strategic collaboration with the Blackstone LaunchPad powered by Techstars at Syracuse University’s Libraries, the campus central innovation hub.
The purpose of this exciting partnership is to advise and share best practices with Central New York and Syracuse University ventures through bespoke workshops to help startups understand their value proposition and better prepare to pitch to professional investors. MPD Partners will also focus on helping ventures understand the different dynamics and complexity of the European marketplace, where opportunities abound.
The LaunchPad at Syracuse University received seed funding from the Blackstone Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Blackstone Group. The private equity powerhouse, headquartered in New York, NY, is a publicly traded company and boasts about $545 billion (as of June 30, 2019) of assets under management.
Since it opened in April 2016, the Launchpad at Syracuse University has worked with 3,750 faculty, staff, student, alumni and community innovators on 622 venture ideas, of which 72 have incorporated, raised $17.7 in external investments, and won $3.3 million in business plan competitions. Program members come for 104 countries, with a strong global reach.
“The values of MPD Partners and the Blackstone LaunchPad are perfectly aligned, as we strongly believe that investing in enterprises that have the potential to stimulate economic growth and deliver long-term value is of paramount importance, even more so in this business cycle,” said Mirco Coccoli, CEO of MPD Partners.
